Luis Reyes is the CEO of Kit Carson Electric Cooperative and William Brown is a founder of Sage West Consulting and a member of the Climate Reality Project.

The event takes place only a few weeks after the announcement of Solar Electric Power Association’s (SEPA) 2013 Utility of the Year Award. This year’s award was presented to Luis Reyes of Kit Carson Electric Cooperative in recognition of its leadership in solar energy. Several large solar arrays located in the KCEC service area provide clean renewable energy to Kit Carson customers. Notable among these is the first Community Solar installation in New Mexico, the 98kw array at the Taos Charter School.

Sol Luna Solar constructed the Taos Charter School Community Solar Array with the Clean Energy Collective of Colorado and in partnership with Kit Carson. This array allows Kit Carson members who cannot locate solar panels at their homes or businesses to purchase panels in a centrally located array. The efficiency and cost savings achieved by community solar promise it a bright place in the future of renewable energy.

According to Bob Bresnahan, one of the founders of Renewable Taos, “Our Lecture Series could not take place without support of companies like Sol Luna Solar. Taos has a wonderful group of solar vendors who are dedicated and committed to a clean energy future. The talent, skills and dedication of these men and women are real assets of our community.”

Sol Luna Solar provides local Solar Thermal Radiant, Solar Hot Water and Photovoltaic installation for the Taos, Espanola, and Santa Fe areas. With over 30 years of experience and licenses in general construction, mechanical (plumbing), and electrical, Sol Luna Solar has become a trusted installer for Northern New Mexico and is a proud supporter of events like the Renewable Taos Lecture Series.
